Activities
Whether you are an experienced adventurer or just want to have a go, this is the place for you. Several snow-mobile trails and walking trails run right from the mountain centre and you can also ski from here as long as the snow lasts: sometimes right up until the end of May. Stora Sjöfallet also has one of Sweden’s best fishing waters and is ranked as the 5th best ice-climbing area in Europe. For those who are interested in grouse-shooting please don’t forget to book in advance...

We arrange individual activities or complete packages
We adapt the activities to suit your wishes and the time of year. If you want to experience everything without having to make detailed plans yourself then that is no problem. We can arrange everything. Our Sami and Lappish guides are very knowledgeable and will look after you very well. If you prefer to do things on your own then that is fine too.

Skiing
You will find the best skiing between February and May. In early June you can even ski under the midnight sun.

Snow-scooters
The best time for snow-mobile excursions is in early spring, i.e. from the end of February until the end of April. There are several snow-mobile trails that meet up at the mountain centre. We have our own snow-mobile and can hire out all the necessary equipment.

Helicopter flights
Just half a kilometre from the mountain centre is the flight station, with helicopters that can take you wherever you want within the national park.

Ice-climbing
Stora Sjöfallet is one of the best areas for ice-climbing in Sweden. There are challenges for beginners and experienced climbers alike, with climbs of 75-400 metres at distances of 10-1500 metres from the road.

Angling
The fishing waters around Stora Sjöfallet are populated by char, salmon trout and grayling, and there is tremendous variety in the challenge they offer. There is easy fishing in the streams, lakes and rivers along the main road, Laponiavägen. Or if you want more of a challenge you should head for the high mountains, which will also entail a walk or a helicopter flight. You will need a fishing permit, which you can buy from the reception.
For children or those who just want to try their hand at fishing there is a particularly suitable stretch of shore close to the mountain centre that is set aside for our guests.

Walking

This is a fantastic mountain region with deep lakes and fast-flowing streams in a clean, unspoiled setting. There are exhilarating walks close by. Many of them can be tackled in one day, so you can be home in time for dinner.
At Sjöfallsudden you can watch the waterfall and see an old Sami burial ground, and a little further away is a stone-age settlement.
Soldalsleden is a walk of approximately five kilometres that offers a marvellous view as you approach the peak of Nieras. Our second local mountain is Juobmåtjåkka, and seven kilometres along the old path will bring you almost to its peak. From here you can see as far as Kebnekajse on a clear day.
Walking the five kilometres to Satihaure will give you an opportunity to see a diverse range of wildlife and, in early summer, reindeer being herded for marking.
Stora Sjöfallet Mountain Centre is also the closest starting point for walking in Sarek during summer when boat crossings as well as helicopter crossings to the other side of Langas can be arranged by us.
